We’re celebrating our 40th year in business!
Established 1978 – Mr Chris fox started Oxden Floors from the garage at his home and began “knocking on doors” His wife Kathy, was responsible for the accounting and administrative duties required of a small start up business.
Things quickly moved on and led to Chris having to employing others and introduce training apprentices in the art of floor laying to keep up with the demand and business he was bringing in.
1981 turned over a whooping £33k with the magic million hit in the early 90’s and business was good.
The mid 90’s saw a young 16year old school leaver, Emma Woodcock was introduced to assist in the admin and accounts department. Emma after 22 Years is still here and of course loves her job !! It wasn’t all plane sailing and after suffering a number of bad debts in the recession times, the business had to consolidate in order to survive.
In the late 90’s it meant moving premises and a streamlined strategy to recover from the bad debts and in working with the suppliers, honoring every debt owed to them. This gave a great deal of Kudos to Chris and the company and is one of the reasons we receive a first rate service and increased discounts in procurement. The millennium began with a new era, a new logo and the introduction of Chris’s son Lee.
Lee quickly took control of the business and with the markets back in good health the turnover was soon up and the need for additional staff. Lee drafted in an old colleague and trusted friend, Steve Hobbs, who worked along side Lee in the day to day running of the projects side of the business.
By 2004 turnover has increased 250% !! Chris then decided the business was in good hands and in 2006 retired leaving Lee, Steve and Emma to fly the flag.
